Bavaria’s biggest modernisation project: HABAU GROUP, PORR and FELBERMAYR to renovate Kachlet lock in Passau

In an open tender procedure, one of the largest modernisation and total renovation measures at the Main-Danube waterway was awarded to a consortium consisting of HABAU GROUP, PORR and FELBERMAYR. Commissioned by the Waterways Construction Authority of Magdeburg, the three companies will completely overhaul both existing lock chambers one after another over a period of 13 years, starting with the southern lock. During renovation work to the southern lock, traffic will be rerouted to the northern lock, and vice versa.

HABAU GROUP celebrates topping-out ceremony for the new Government Services Centre in Salzburg

The Government Services Centre in Salzburg is the biggest structural engineering project in the history of HABAU to date. The traditional topping-out ceremony was held on 27 November, thus marking a further important milestone in the construction process.

Groundbreaking for new security centre in Vienna’s Favoriten district

The groundbreaking ceremony on 20 October 2025 launched the construction phase for the new security centre in Vienna’s tenth district. Full-service general contractor HABAU GROUP, client RAINER Gruppe and numerous representatives from politics and administration honoured the project as an important step towards strengthening public security.

HABAU GROUP CEO congratulates young talents on gold at EuroSkills

“Lukas Miedler’s and Lukas Ritzberger’s success shows the enormous potential that is inside our young skilled workers”. With these words, yesterday Hubert Wetschnig, CEO of the HABAU GROUP congratulated HABAU specialists Lukas Miedler from Horn (Lower Austria) and Lukas Ritzberger from Enns (Upper Austria) on their win at the EuroSkills 2025. The up-and-coming talents managed to secure the gold medal in the category “concrete construction” at the European vocational championships in Herning, Denmark.

Start of the 2025 apprentice season: HABAU GROUP builds on the specialists of tomorrow

The HABAU GROUP is currently training 210 young people in 20 different apprenticeships in Austria and Germany. In the 2025 apprenticeship year, around 41 new construction talents joined the team.

Apleona, HABAU GROUP and RBI Leasing celebrate topping out at bafep21 education project in Vienna Floridsdorf

With the completion of the building shell, a significant milestone was achieved in the new construction of the elementary educational institution “bafep21” in Vienna’s 21st district. The project is being carried out by a consortium consisting of Apleona Austria GmbH, RBI Leasing GmbH and HABAU Hoch- und Tiefbaugesellschaft m.b.H. within the framework of a PPP (Public Private Partnership) model on behalf of the City of Vienna. On 16 September, the consortium held a topping-out ceremony together with the client and representatives of politics at Schloßhofer Straße / Freytaggasse. The start of school operations is anticipated for autumn 2026, with overall completion planned for 2027.

European champions: gold for emerging HABAU talents at the EuroSkills 2025 in Denmark

At the European vocational championships EuroSkills 2025 in Herning, Denmark, HABAU specialists Lukas Miedler from Lower Austria (Horn) and Lukas Ritzberger from Upper Austria (Enns) managed to secure the gold medal in the category “concrete construction”. Following their win at the AustrianSkills 2023, they now managed to make their mark on a European stage and demonstrate their skills impressively.

HABAU GROUP awarded contract for new construction of the “Ringbahn bridge” at a central junction in Berlin

At the threeway “Funkturm” traffic junction in Berlin, one of Germany’s most heavily transited motorway sections, the two HABAU GROUP companies HABAU and MCE will be completing new construction of the Ringbahn and the Halenseestraßen bridges. The investment sum is around 50 million euros net.
