Company formation
Our story begins with Vinzenz Halatschek. In 1913, the building contractor registered a construction and masonry business in Vyšší Brod (German: Hohenfurth), in the present-day Czech Republic, thus laying the foundation for a business that would one day grow to become the HABAU GROUP.

New head office
16 years after our company was founded, it made the move from Wolfern to Perg. And since that fateful day, HABAU Hoch- und Tiefbaugesellschaft mbH has called the town in Upper Austria home.

Generational changes
Erich Halatschek, the son of our founder Vinzenz, takes the reins and establishes the structural engineering and prefabricated construction divisions.

Shifting business focus
Ing. E. Halatschek & Co. OHG is founded by Erich Halatschek and brother-in-law Georg Heindl. The new core business areas include equipment rental, mechanical excavation and civil engineering.

Sustainable fusion
The independent companies Ing. E. Halatschek & Co. OHG, HABAU Baugesellschaft mbH, and Hoch- und Tiefbau Ing. E. Halatschek Baugesellschaft mbH & Co KG are merged to create HABAU Hoch- und Tiefbaugesellschaft mbH.
Our family business prepares to hand over the reins to the next generation.
What follows is the establishment of the two family-run holding companies Halatschek and Heindl Holding, and Georgine Heindl and Peter Halatschek are named as managing directors of these holdings.

Making the move abroad
75 years after its founding, our company establishes its first offices in Germany, setting up HABAU Hoch- und Tiefbau GmbH in the town of Heringen.

Getting established in Germany
The site in Thuringia soon expands considerably due to the acquisition of the locally based business UNIVERSALBETON Heringen GmbH & Co KG (UBH) with its two large prefabricated parts plants in Heringen and Rudolstadt.

With the purchase of HELD & FRANCKE, our range of construction products expands as we add asphalt expertise and achieve a greater regional presence in the majority of Austria’s states.

New additions to the Austrian family
2008 is a successful year in terms of acquisitions: The companies ÖSTU-STETTIN, the structural engineering and tunnel construction specialists, KARL SEIDL Bau GmbH, with its headquarters in Brunn am Gebirge, as well as logistics experts FTL Fuchs Transport Logistik GmbH now all form part of the HABAU GROUP.

Expansion into neighbouring country
The German specialist company for building construction, civil engineering and pre-cast concrete structure – SCHICK – is to become part ot the HABAU GROUP and will further expand our construction family.

Our construction family is growing once again! Firstly, we’re founding HABAU INFRA in order to pool our expertise in infrastructure projects. And secondly, SKI is to become part of the HABAU GROUP.
