Throughout Austria, 23 April 2026 was all about girls in technical professions. Young women took up the invitation from the HABAU GROUP and visited the HABAU Group company in Vienna and Perg. A diverse programme with fascinating insights into various occupational fields awaited the potential civil engineers of the future.
The construction industry continues to be largely dominated by men. In the scope of this year’s “Vienna Daughters’ Day” and “Girls Day” in Upper Austria, which aim to bring awareness to gender equality in terms of vocational orientation, HABAU GROUP joined in by opening its doors to the generation of tomorrow. The Group company HABAU Hoch- und Tiefbaugesellschaft m.b.H. organised a varied programme for girls between the ages of 11 and 17 in Vienna and Perg.
“The Vienna Daughters’ Day and the Girls Day in Perg are important occasions for us to inspire young women to get involved in the construction and technology industry”, says Hubert Wetschnig, CEO of HABAU GROUP. “The strong interest and curiosity of the participants show just how important such initiatives are for deconstructing traditional role models and raising girls’ awareness of technical career paths early on.
Lego challenge and construction site quiz
As part of the Vienna Daughters’ Day, the girls got the chance to get a taste of the professional world and become acquainted with careers in the construction industry. At HABAU in Vienna’s 20th district, an exciting day had been prepared for the young visitors, including fascinating talks followed by a Lego challenge. After this came a visit to the construction site to become better acquainted with the diversity of daily tasks on site. The day ended on a high note with a group pizza lunch and construction site quiz.
As part of Girls Day in Upper Austria, girls from the surrounding secondary schools paid a visit to HABAU in Perg. Following a guided tour through the prefab plant and fascinating discussions with colleagues on site, the taster day in Upper Austria also ended with a group lunch and construction site quiz, complete with goody bags and all.
