As of October, the financial expert will take over the CFO duties of Karl Steinmayr and will in future lead the country’s fourth-largest construction group alongside CEO Hubert Wetschnig.
As of October 2023, Mag. Michael Mayer-Schütz (45) is to be the new head of finance of the HABAU GROUP. He is taking over the reins from Karl Steinmayr, who as CFO of the HABAU GROUP was responsible for the commercial success of the corporate group since 2008 and is now retiring.
“With the addition of Michael Mayer-Schütz, we are gaining a respected financial pro with many years of experience in financial management who is already well acquainted with our company. I’m positive that together, we will continue the HABAU GROUP’s successful course in future, and am pleased that he has joined us”, states HABAU GROUP CEO Hubert Wetschnig. “I’d also like to thank Karl Steinmayr for his outstanding collaboration throughout his many years with us, and wish him the very best for the future.”
HABAU GROUP on expansion course
In recent years, the HABAU GROUP has shown consistent growth. Each year, the construction group, with its 15 Group companies and roughly 6,500 employees, obtains a construction volume of 1.9 billion euros. As a result, the corporate group is among the top four construction groups in Austria. And its international expansion is also progressing successfully – as recently as the end of last year, German construction firm SCHiCK was integrated into the HABAU GROUP.
“We at the HABAU GROUP have demonstrated successful growth in recent years. The German market in particular holds major potential for us. Now, it’s about consistently continuing this growth course and, in doing so, streamlining processes within the Group to become even more efficient”, explains new CFO Michael Mayer-Schütz. “I’m greatly looking forward to taking on new tasks and helping shape the future of the HABAU GROUP together with the construction family.”
Financial expert meets construction expertise
Michael Mayer-Schütz has been part of HABAU Hoch- und Tiefbaugesellschaft m.b.H. since 2018 as the head of risk management, taxes and Group accounting. Before his career with the HABAU GROUP, the business management graduate from Upper Austria worked for 16 years as an auditor at KPMG, where he was in charge of auditing medium-sized to listed construction and industrial companies.
