Start of the 2025 apprentice season: HABAU GROUP builds on the specialists of tomorrow

The HABAU GROUP is currently training 210 young people in 20 different apprenticeships in Austria and Germany. In the 2025 apprenticeship year, around 41 new construction talents joined the team.

Over 200 young people are currently completing their training with the HABAU GROUP in 20 different apprenticeships. In the new apprenticeship year of 2025 alone, 41 young talents kicked off their careers in Austria. With this, the local construction group with Upper Austrian roots is strengthening its role as one of the country’s biggest training organisations and as an important partner for the next generation of skilled workers.

“Manual apprenticeships have a strong future. In a time when so much is becoming abstract and digitalised, the value of people who can create something real with their skill and effort is increasing”, emphasises HABAU GROUP CEO Hubert Wetschnig. “Whether on the construction site, at the workshop or in the office – our team is shaping the world of tomorrow. We’re not just establishing the buildings, roads and bridges, but the very foundation of our society.”

Diverse training possibilities
From building construction and civil engineering to concrete construction, electrical engineering and surveying to IT and agricultural and construction machinery technology, the HABAU GROUP offers 14 different apprenticeships in Austria. At present, 130 apprentices at locations throughout Austria and 80 young talents in Germany are completing their practical apprenticeships. The goal is to identify and promote individual strengths in a targeted manner.

“Our mission is to not only train young people professionally, but also to spark enthusiasm for our trades”, explains Stefan Reif-Zöhrer, head of personnel management at HABAU Hoch- und Tiefbaugesellschaft m.b.H. “In this way, we do our bit to smooth their path to a successful future in the construction world.”

Top-class training with prospects
With 13 Group companies, the HABAU GROUP is among Austria’s top four construction companies and is continuously investing in training its own skilled workers. With a clear stance: the apprentices of today are the specialists of tomorrow – making them the foundation for a successful and sustainable future of construction.

A fair salary, attractive bonuses and numerous opportunities for further education complete the apprenticeship training. Upon completion of the apprenticeship, discussions on prospects accompany the young specialists on their next career steps within the HABAU GROUP. Seminars on communication and teamwork, a chance for practical perfection of what has been learned and assignments on different construction sites are further elements that make this education a cut above the rest.

And this year’s EuroSkills are proof that training with the HABAU GROUP bears fruit internationally too: in September 2025, the two HABAU specialists Lukas Miedler and Lukas Ritzberger took home the European championship title in concrete construction in Denmark. This sent a strong message that commitment and quality in training are met with recognition even beyond national borders.

Personal contact at the apprenticeship fair in Wels
Anyone wishing to find out more about the training opportunities at the HABAU GROUP will soon have a chance to do so: from 1 to 4 October 2025, the construction group will be present at the “Youth & Career” apprenticeship fair in Wels – Austria’s largest career information fair. There, interested young people and their parents will be able to talk directly to apprentices and recruiters and learn everything they need to know.
